The Loop at Chaska, is in its final stages of construction (Artisan Golf Design, Mid-America Golf, Stantec Inc) and will be open for play beginning in the spring of 2023. The first of its kind, The Loop is a “short course” designed expressly for the adaptive golfer. The project is a joint venture between the City of Chaska and Barrier Free Golf. Day-to-day course management is handled by the same team charged with the care of the Chaska Town Course, widely considered some of the best public golf in the Twin Cities. A variety of key stakeholders will benefit from The Loop, including PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) and the Courage Kenny Sports and Recreation program. This new venue will broaden the population of those able to enjoy all of the benefits (relaxation and enjoyment of the outdoors) and life lessons (challenging oneself, persistence, and adaptability) that golf offers. The Loop will be a place where anyone, regardless of skill, ability, age, background, etc. could join a foursome, relax, and enjoy a round together.

The Loop will focus on four important goals

  1. Accessibility - Making disability access a primary design feature.

  2. Environmental sustainability - carefully managing water, herbicide, and pesticide use. The Loop aims to become a showcase and laboratory that integrates the latest golf industry research in sustainable management and environmental impact.

  3. Financial sustainability - a design that allows simpler maintenance practices that minimize turf costs.

  4. Fun - a course that is fun for all playing abilities through the construction of world-class putting surfaces, wall-to-wall short grass, and no bunkers.

We believe that the Loop will become a national demonstration project that shows how golf course design can enable access to golf by appealing to new populations – especially golfers with physical and sensory impairments.

Minnalayas Putting Green: The site will showcase a large Himalayan style putting green that is free to the public and an invitation for people to give the game a try.
